What's New in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 19536 (20H2)
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 19536 (20H2) is the first build of the Manganese development cycle, which will bring new features and improvements to Windows 10 later this year. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring on December 16, 2019. Here are some of the highlights of this build:
Optional Drivers: You can now see and install optional updates for drivers, feature updates, and monthly non-security quality updates in one place. Just go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View optional updates.
Updated Korean IME: The Korean IME has been redesigned to provide a more modern and improved typing experience. Some of the changes include a new candidate window design, an updated algorithm for text prediction and auto-correction, and a new emoji panel.
Family group setup: You can now set up your family group from within Windows settings. This makes it easier to manage your family's digital safety and online activities. Just go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users and click on \"Setup a family group\".
If you want to try out these new features and more, you can join the Windows Insider Program for free and get access to the latest Windows 10 builds before anyone else. You can also give feedback and help shape the future of Windows. To learn more, visit https://insider.windows.com/.
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 19536 (20H2) is also the first build that isn't tied to any specific release of Windows 10. This means that the features in this build may or may not show up in future Windows 10 releases, depending on the feedback and development progress. The Fast ring will now receive builds directly from the active development branch, which is called RS_PRERELEASE[^1^]. This will give Insiders the opportunity to test the latest code changes and provide feedback to Microsoft.
Some of the other features and improvements in this build include:
Family group setup: You can now set up your family group from within Windows settings. This makes it easier to manage your family's digital safety and online activities. Just go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users and click on \"Setup a family group\".
Microsoft To Do app: If you are opening To Do for the first time, you may notice some new UI that helps ensure you have the latest version of To Do installed. You can use this app to plan your day and manage your life with tasks, lists, reminders, and more.
Windows Recovery Environment: Windows RE (Recovery Environment) no longer requires an administrator password to access recovery tools. This makes it easier to troubleshoot and restore your PC if something goes wrong.
File Explorer search: We've updated the new File Explorer search experience to enable you to remove previous searches via an option if you right click the entry in the dropdown. This helps you keep your search history clean and relevant.
